(Irving-AP) -- Receiver Carl Pickens has decided to retire because of a hamstring injury.
The player's agent, Steve Zucker, says he called Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones yesterday with the decision.
Pickens was supposed to give the Cowboys a proven third-down possession receiver. But he attended none of the club's first three mini-camps.
The player last month agreed to a one-year deal worth 500-thousand dollars that didn't include a signing bonus.
