One person is dead following a single engine airplane crash in Mayes County. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the accident happened, Saturday afternoon, at an airport south of Pryor.
Authorities say the airplane was taking off with a sailplane in tow when the accident occurred. The name of the victim, who was the pilot of the airplane, has not been identified, pending notification of next of kin.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
