(Tahlequah-AP) -- Officials at Northeastern State University are looking at upgrading sports facilities on campus.

The school is considering putting artificial turf on the football field and they would like to do other renovations of Gable Field.

An informal committee has been meeting for about six months to discuss the renovation possibilities.

Estimates put the cost between one-and-a-half and two million dollars, depending on the amount of work to be done.

Gable Field is used by the university, high school and community for football games and other events. About 110-thousand people attend major functions at the stadium each year.

Committee members hope to have a proposal before the Tahlequah City Council by this fall.
