BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) _ A high school history teacher is one of five teachers from across the county selected Tuesday for the National Teachers Hall of Fame.
Mitsuye Conover's selection was announced at a noon ceremony at Bartlesville High School. She and the other four teachers will be inducted into the hall in June in Emporia, Kan.
Conover spent the first three years of her life in a World War II internment camp in California.
In her classroom at Bartlesville High School, she is known for her portrayals of historical characters. She is a former Oklahoma Teacher of the Year.
She and the other honorees will get $1,000 from the Horace Mann Companies and $1,000 in educational materials. A Bartlesville High School students will also get a $1,000 scholarship.
