Tulsa lands 2005 women's bowling tourney

TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ A major women's bowling event has chosen Tulsa for its championship and convention in 2005.
The 2005 Women's International Bowling Congress Championship and Annual Convention was awarded Wednesday at this year's event in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Tulsa won over Salt Lake City and Detroit, according to the Tulsa Metro Chamber, which headed up the city's bid.
The event will last three months from April 9 to June 30, 2005. It is expected to bring 30,000 delegates to Tulsa and pump from $40 million to $60 million into the local economy, according to the chamber.
The Tulsa Women's Bowling Association, Tulsa Sports Commission and Bowling Proprietors of Tulsa contributed to the bid process.
