SALT LAKE CITY (AP) _ Larry Barnes' leadoff home run in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Salt Lake Stingers a 7-6 win over Oklahoma Saturday night.
Barnes hit a 3-1 pitch off reliever Brian Schmack (0-1) over the right field fence for his second homer of the year. Saturday's game-winner comes two days after hitting his first major league home run for Anaheim against Texas.
Salt Lake had squandered a two run lead in the eighth when winning pitcher Bart Miadich (1-0) walked Mike Hubbard and Carlos Pena back-to-back with the bases loaded to tie the game at 6-6.
The Stingers had rallied from an early 3-0 deficit with two runs in the fourth inning and four in the fifth. Chris Pritchett hit a two run double to put Salt Lake out in front 4-3 and Jamie Burke delivered a two single to make it 6-3.
