(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A vote on a right-to-work measure is now expected to come up next week in the state House.
House leaders say discussions about an election date for the measure delayed plans to bring up the issue this week. A House committee changed the planned election date from November 2002 to this August.
The Senate has approved the measure, but must also agree to the change of the election date.
The resolution calls for a statewide vote on a constitutional amendment prohibiting any requirement that a worker join a union or pay union dues as a condition of employment.
Business officials and the State Chamber support the plan, which is opposed by organized labor.
