Clinton-AP) -- The Bar-S Foods plant at Clinton is voluntarily recalling 14-and-a-half million pounds of meat and poultry that may be contaminated with Listeria.
Brand names of the recalled products are Bar-S, Bar-S Extra Lean, Coronado, Chuck Wagon, E-Z Carve and Thrifty. The products have an establishment number of 471 or P-471.
The meat was sent to retail stores, delis and other outlets across the United States and in other countries.
Listeria is dangerous for pregnant women, newborns and the elderly.
Contaminated meat was found at the plant last November, December and again in March. The plant was closed on March 29th and 400 employees laid off.
Bar-S vice president Tom Weinman says the source of the contamination hasn't been found and officials don't know when the plant will re-open.
Weinman says there is no evidence contaminated meat left the plant and no reports of people getting sick from eating the meat.
