(Norman-AP) -- Oklahoma junior tailback Quentin Griffin is out for the remainder of spring practice after undergoing shoulder surgery.

Sooner offensive coordinator Mark Mangino says the surgery was needed to correct a chronic problem that's bothered Griffin since last spring.

Mangino says Griffin will begin rehabilitating and will be ready for two-a-days in August.

Griffin led O-U with 789 rushing yards last season and was second on the team with 45 pass receptions.
