(FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.) - Arkansas assistant coach Mike Anderson said he hopes he will be considered for the open head coach position at University of Tulsa.

Anderson played for then-Golden Hurricane coach Nolan Richardson and followed Richardson to Fayetteville 16 years ago.

Buzz Peterson resigned Tuesday after one year at Tulsa to become coach at Tennessee.

Anderson said Tuesday he has not been in contact with Tulsa but said that does not indicate a lack of interest.

``I think timing is everything,'' said Anderson, who interviewed for the job same 1995. ``I'm sure there will be some dialogue between myself and the Tulsa administration, and then we'll see what happens.''

Under Richardson, Anderson played for the Tulsa team that won the National Invitational Tournament in 1982. He began coaching as a volunteer assistant the following season.
