(Muskogee) -- A 16-year-old boy faces a first-degree manslaughter charge in connection with the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old woman.

Prosecutors believe Justin Mackey accidentally shot the woman last week. The manslaughter count alleges Mackey committed a misdemeanor, reckless handling of a firearm.

Prosecutor David Pierce says Mackey was recklessly handling the gun when it discharged and killed Devin Bell.

Nineteen-year-old Freddie Ross was at the residence at the time of the shooting. Ross was arrested on a drug complaint.

Authorities believe the Webbers Falls residence was repeatedly used as a drug house.

Mackey was charged under the state's Youthful Offender Act.

He will be tried in adult court until his preliminary hearing, at which time a hearing will be held to determine if he goes into adult or juvenile custody.
