A Tulsa man who championed Tulsa's less fortunate has died. Phil Dickinson had served as executive director of the John 3:16 Mission since 1992. Dickinson died early Tuesday following an extended illness. He was 57. The John 3:16 Mission provides food and shelter to thousands of the city's homeless each year. And is one of the partners for KOTV'S Project Spirit Supplies where needy children receive back to school items their families could not otherwise afford. Under Dickinson's leadership, revenues at John 3:16 grew from about $200,000 a year to almost $2-million annually. Funeral services are pending.
