(Tulsa-AP) -- Tulsa coach Buzz Peterson says he's disappointed his team lost a trip to the NCAA tournament by losing the WAC conference tournament.

But Peterson says he will try to make something positive out of the Golden Hurricane's NIT berth. TU hosts Cal-Irvine on Wednesday at the Reynolds Center.

Peterson says it took him a while to gain his composure and talk to his team after Hawaii beat them to earn the conference's automatic berth to the NCAAs.

Fresno State was the only other WAC team to make the 65 team field.

Peterson says his team must now get ready for the Anteaters. Cal-Irvine was 2-and-2 against NCAA teams this year. TheY beat California and lost by only five at UCLA.
