(Weatherford, Oklahoma-AP) -- The search is back on for a new president of Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

The Board of Regents of Oklahoma Colleges had announced March Third that Beaumont, Texas, businessman Rex Cottle would suceed Joe Anna Hibler in July.

But Cottle withdrew from the post during an emergency regents meeting yesterday after they quizzed him about his departure from Lamar University in Beaumont three years ago.

Reports surfaced that Cottle left his Lamar post after a sharply critical audit of the school's financial management was released.

Cottle is vice president for corporate development for Transit Mix Concrete and Materials in Beaumont.
