(Chelsea-AP) -- City officials in Chelsea are looking for a way to keep its ambulance service.

The city contracts with Vinita-based MedTech Ambulance Service, which says it will vacate the current $60,000 contract unless a new contract is negotiated.

MedTech is asking for a subsidy of $100,000 a year, which Town Administrator Don Cochran says the city can't afford.

MedTech officials blame cuts in Medicare and Medicaid payments for their decision.
