(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Go beyond the roses and chocolates this Valentine's Day.

Counselors are urging Oklahomans to work on their marriages.

They say it's important to seek help on relationships early and often. Couples shouldn't wait to see a marriage counselor until they have no real determination to make it work.

Statistics show more than half of Oklahoma's marriages are failing.

Governor Keating, his wife, Cathy, and counselors are meeting to come up with ideas to save the state's marriages. The group plans to start an advertising campaign and training effort this spring on college campuses and several communities.

Counselors say new couples, long-time spouses and couples beginning second marriages should attend the gatherings.
