FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) â€” Sports media company SportsLine.com Inc. has partnered with USA Networks Inc. to help rebuild CBS SportsLine.com's online retail store.

SportsLine.com also has purchased domain names, trademarks and other assets from the struggling Chicago-based MVP.com, company officials said in a press release Monday.

MVP.com, which has the financial and name backing of sports greats Michael Jordan, John Elway and Wayne Gretzky, had recently been undergoing a restructuring plan and had laid off most of its staff.

A division of USA Networks, Electronic Commerce Solutions, plans to relaunch CBS SportsLine.com's Shop SportsLine store by spring. The companies will work together to promote the store through USA Networks' media companies like the Sci Fi Channel, and through USA Networks' Internet holdings, including Ticketmaster.com, Citysearch.com and hoteldiscount.com.

SportsLine.com produces the Web sites for Major League baseball, the PGA Tour, which is the U.S. professional golf tour, and provides sports news to Internet service providers such as America Online Inc.

The 6-year-old company also sells sporting goods and sports-related merchandise.

Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal and Tiger Woods recently bought stakes in Sports.com, a subsidiary of SportsLine.com and will promote the firm.

The superstar athletes purchased part of a $52.5 million stock sale, representing about 25 percent of its total stock. The company did not say how much each invested.
