(Norman-AP) -- A preseason poll ranks the University of Oklahoma's softball team second in the nation.

But being Number Two isn't good enough for head coach Patty Gasso. Gasso says she's surprised the Sooners aren't ranked first in the U-S-A Today/N-F-C-A Coaches poll.

Gasso says O-U's roster returns four All-Americans and nine starters. She says she would feel differently if the Sooners had lost more players.

The poll's top preseason pick is U-C-L-A. Oklahoma met U-C-L-A in the finals of the 2000 Women's College World Series. O-U won 3-to-1 and became only the second school east of the Rockies to win a softball championship.

It was the first women's national championship in O-U's history and 20th overall.
