WASHINGTON (AP) — Marie Osmond, who has said she suffered from postpartum depression, has written a book on the subject.
Osmond said ``Behind the Smile'' will be available in stores in the spring.
She said she is a ``very private person,'' but chose to write the book to help other women. She said there is a shame attached to postpartum depression, which some women suffer after giving birth.
``My only hope is that other women will gain something from it,'' she said while in Washington, where she introduced President Bush at an inaugural balls Saturday night.
Osmond, 41, has been an actress, talk show host and manufacturer of porcelain collector dolls, and is co-founder of Children's Miracle Network, a telethon that has raised about $1.8 billion. She is the eighth of nine children, has seven children ranging in age from 17 to one.
