PHILADELPHIA (AP) — U.S. and Colombian officials arrested 67 members of a ring that smuggled $3 million worth of heroin from South America to Philadelphia and New York, police said Thursday.
The U.S. attorney's office in Philadelphia planned to release details by Friday.
More than 150 members of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration worked with Colombian officials for a year in what was dubbed Operation White Horse, the Colombian National Police said.
Police seized 37 pounds of heroin and discovered a processing lab in southern Colombia and a distribution center in Philadelphia, Colombian police said. The drugs were apparently brought into the United States via Aruba.
Of the arrests, 27 were in Philadelphia, 10 in New York and 30 in Colombia, police said.
