(Morgantown, West Virginia-AP) -- A company that employs 1,500 workers at sites in Tulsa, West Virginia and Pittsburgh is getting national recognition.

The National Energy Technology Laboratory has been awarded a Bright Lights Award -- one of only five presented by the U-S Department of Energy.

The award recognizes the company's consumer-oriented innovations.

The Department of Energy's "Energy 100 Awards" recognize outstanding work by department scientists and discoveries that have helped consumers save money and improve quality of life.

In response to greater demands for clean, efficient and affordable power, N-E-T-L developed turbines that are 60 percent efficient and have low nitrogen oxide emissions.

N-E-T-L manages and implements a broad spectrum of energy and environmental programs.
