ENID, Okla. (AP) -- Civilian workers at Vance Air Force Base have alerted their union's national headquarters that they could strike if they are unable to reach contract agreement with their employer, Northrop Grumman.

The prestrike vote is required whenever the employees review a new contract.

Northrop Grumman provides technical services to the Enid base.

It lost its contract with the Air Force in July after more than 20 years of serving the base.

The U.S. Air Force and Education Training Command instead awarded DynCorp Technical Services Inc., based in Fort Worth, a seven-year contract to serve the base.

Contract negotiations began Tuesday. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers represents 950 workers on the base.
