LONDON (AP) — ``Titanic'' star Kate Winslet has reluctantly embarked on a course she has urged other women to avoid — a diet — to shed the weight she gained during a recent pregnancy.
The 25-year-old actress said in an interview published this week that she fears the thin-is-in reality of Hollywood will make it difficult to find work otherwise.
``It's so insane and bloody boring,'' Winslet told Radio Times magazine. ``I despise myself for it and feel I'm letting a lot of people down.''
Winslet, who gave birth to daughter Mia three months ago, often has spoken out for people with fuller figures.
``I constantly wave the flag of, `Don't go on diets because they are rubbish,' but I'd like to get a bit of the baby weight off or I won't work,'' she said.
She took aim at the movie industry's preference for thin and fit actresses, saying the result has been films that are ``less real.''
``Thank God for British ones,'' she said. ``They don't care what shape you are.''
Winslet's latest major role is in the film ``Quills,'' co-starring Geoffrey Rush and Michael Caine.
