LAWTON, Okla. (AP) -- Counterfeit $100 bills made from $1 bills were used over the weekend at Central Mall.

Police Capt. Bill Mathis said Tuesday that approximately 19 offenses were reported. The cases are under investigation by the LPD, which will work in cooperation with U.S. Secret Service officials when they arrive in town Thursday.

"The majority of the (fake) money was discovered by banks,"

Mathis said.

The bills appeared to have been marked with counterfeit detection pens, and passed that detection test. Once the bills were deposited at banks the flaws were discovered and the Secret Service was notified.
