JENNINGS, Okla. (AP) -- A Tulsa County judge has sentenced a former Jennings reserve police officer to four months in prison for wearing his weapon outside of his jurisdiction.

District Judge Linda Morrissey also on Monday gave Peter Vernon Broderick 20 months probation for gun possession and impersonating an officer.

Morrissey said she wanted Broderick and others to know the seriousness of his actions. Broderick earlier pleaded no contest to the charges.

Broderick and Thomas Pittman, both 24, went to East Central and Memorial high schools in Tulsa on April 20. They wore black "task force" shirts and told school officials they were assigned to do security checks at area schools on the first anniversary of the Littleton, Colo., school shootings.

Pittman received a two-year deferred sentence in November. His case could be dismissed if he successfully completes probation.
