Shaughnessy to speak on Dirty Buildings
The University of Tulsa's Dr. Richard Shaughnessy, an authority on dirty buildings, will speak at the next Health Care Forum on the topic, "Mold contamination in schools and buildings - What causes it and how to fix it." He will describe mold and other contaminants and the health hazards they present, and then offer some solutions. Breakfast is included on Tuesday, January 9, 7:30 AM in the Chairmen’s Room, and it’s free! Phone 560-0276.
Chamber's Annual Meeting
John A. Gaberino, Jr., Senior VP and General Counsel at ONEOK, formally succeeds Paula Marshall-Chapman as Board Chair at the Annual Meeting next week. The luncheon includes an award ceremony and a presentation of the 2000 Annual Report video. The luncheon will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2001, at the Doubletree Hotel Downtown. Cost is $30 per person and $1,500 for corporate tables of 10. Contact Elaine at 560-0298 to reserve individual seats and corporate tables.
Operation Thank You 2001
Operation Thank You begins with a breakfast on Tuesday, February 13, 7:30 AM at the Doubletree at Warren Place. After breakfast, volunteers will have three days to deliver packets including the Membership and Political Directories, member plaques, and the 2000 Annual Report / Outlook for 2001. About 250 volunteers are needed for this annual extravaganza that concludes with a Business After Hours on Thursday, February 15. Call Elaine at 560-0298 to participate.
Williams basketball Tourney tickets now on sale
Tickets to the 2001 Williams WAC Basketball Tournament, March 6 - 10 at TU's Donald W. Reynolds Center are now on sale to the general public. Tickets are $125 and $350 for session passes that include all 16 games. To purchase tickets, call the Tulsa Sports Commission at 560-0205 or go to the Donald W. Reynolds Center ticket office prior to any TU home game throughout the rest of the season.
Town Hall focus on deregulation
The public is invited to a town hall meeting on electric utility deregulation and its impact on Oklahomans. The meeting features a panel discussion, moderated by Clayton Vaughn, which begins at 6:30 PM in the Assembly Room at the Education Service Center, 31st and New Haven, on Thursday, January 11, 2001. The panel discussion, sponsored by the Tulsa Council of P-T-A-s and T-P-S and staffed by the Chamber, is free of charge and will include a question and answer period. It will be broadcast live on TPS School TV Channel 20 and taped for re-broadcast.
Legislative session approaches
The 2001 legislative session is right around the corner, and the Chamber wants to help you get prepared. Join fellow business leaders and area legislators at a legislative reception on Thursday, February 1, 5:30 PM at the Tulsa Country Club.
