LOS ANGELES (AP) — Fans who are drawn to Chuck Jones, the master animator who brought Wile E. Coyote, Pepe Le Pew and other cartoon characters to life, have a chance to tell him.

A ``Letters From the Heart'' campaign has been launched to collect at least 100,000 notes from Jones' admirers by Valentine's Day, said grandson Craig Kausen.

``We think he will be touched to see how much impact he has had on people's lives and hope to present this tribute to him in published form,'' Kausen said. Letters were being accepted online or by mail.

The Oscar-winning Jones, 88, directed more than 300 animated films, including his Warner Bros. ``Looney Tunes'' work featuring Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and other enduring favorites. He directed and co-produced the 1966 TV special ``Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.''
