(Idabel-AP) -- An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper is hospitalized in critical but stable condition in Texarkana, Texas, this morning after being struck by a motorist.
Authorities say trooper Gordon Manning was directing traffic around an accident on U-S Highway 259 south of Idabel just after six last night when he was struck by a pickup truck.
Manning was taken to McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, then transported by life-flight to the Texarkana hospital.
Other troopers say Manning was thrown 59 feet after being hit by the truck driven by 78-year-old William Eason of Idabel. Eason was not injured.
