(Watts-AP) -- Authorities say the assistant police chief of Watts and his 12-year-old son remain hospitalized in Tulsa after being severely burned on Sunday.

Authorities say Assistant Chief Robert Nelson and his son, Donnie were both burned when a propane heater apparently exploded at their home.

Donnie Nelson is in intensive care with burns to his lungs, face, chest and hands.

Robert Nelson suffered burns to his face, chest and hands.
