AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) — A senior cadet has been charged with dealing LSD and Ecstasy, and nine other cadets are being investigated.
Military prosecutors allege Senior Cadet Stephen Daniel Pouncey also used LSD, Ecstasy, cocaine and methamphetamine, academy spokesman Neil Talbott said Monday.
Pouncey was to appear in military court Thursday. If found guilty, he faces up to 55 years in prison and dismissal from the Air Force.
Pouncey continues to be a cadet and is taking his final exams, which end Wednesday, Talbott said.
The academy's Office of Special Investigations was investigating nine other cadets for ``admitted or suspected drug use,'' an academy news release said. Talbott refused to comment on the other cadets.
Pouncey tested positive in a drug test in October, triggering the investigation. Pouncey, whose age and hometown were not released, was the first cadet in five years not in basic training to test positive for drugs, he said.
The academy conducts random drug testing eight days a month, and 2,700 of the 4,000 cadets end up being tested each year, Talbott said.
