TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Sentencing is set March 12 for a Tulsan who pleaded guilty Monday to fraudulently issuing money orders on May 29 while employed at the University of Tulsa's contract postal station.
Christopher Miles Bland, 26, agreed in plea documents to causing a loss of $182,462.38 to the station, including $100,000 in completed money orders, 100 blank money orders with a potential value of $700 each and $12,462.38 in cash and inventory. The money orders and other items were missing when Bland left his job.
Bland, who is free on bond, faces up to five years in prison and will be ordered to pay any restitution that is due.
His plea agreement says that amount will reflect $85,500 worth of money orders Bland has returned to authorities, as well as the potential value of the blank money orders.
An indictment handed up in September against Tulsans Stephen Corey Brown, 29, and Marquitia Sharon Davis, 28, alleged that Bland agreed to purchase false identification documents from Brown to establish two fictitious identities for $10,000 each.
