(Tulsa-AP) -- After hearing complaints about noise as well as safety concerns, the Tulsa City Council is temporarily closing a skateboarding park in the city.
Neighbors near McClure Park's SkatePark Zone say the noise generated by up to 100 youths using the park each night for skating and biking is unbearable.
Parks Department spokesman Craig Thompson blames broken welds for the noise, and says the breaks are also a safety concern.
The park that opened in September will now be closed while repairs are made. Park officials will also consider moving the facility that's the only free, public skate park in northeast Oklahoma.
Those who use it say they're shocked.
Seventeen-year-old Peter Ramondetta says he and other skaters may have to go back to skating the streets.
