(Columbia, Missouri-AP) -- Oklahoma co-defensive coordinator Brent Venables could still be in the running for the head coaching job at Missouri.

Venables removed his name from consideration for the job last week, saying he could not meet the timetable for an interview set by Missouri athletic director Mike Alden.

Alden says he has not spoken with Venables, but says the Sooner assistant doesn't want to talk until after the Big 12 Championship game. Alden says he respects Venables' wish.

Oklahoma plays Kansas State on Saturday for the conference championship.

Missouri is looking for a replacement for the fired Larry Smith.
