LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Skater Scott Hamilton says the pain is finally gone after three years of recovery from cancer and ankle surgery.
Hamilton, the 1984 Olympic men's champion, is beginning his last full tour with the Stars On Ice show he founded in 1986. The 65-city tour is slated to end April 7.
He said his ankle stopped hurting him last week.
``I never thought I'd skate another program without pain on the tour. Now, I feel I have a chance of really doing a tour without agony,'' said Hamilton, 42.
After fighting testicular cancer in 1997, Hamilton had an injured ankle rebuilt in 1998.
