TOKYO (AP) — Nomura Securities Co. said Friday its profits for the fiscal half more than doubled from a year ago, thanks to expanded business with corporate clients.
Earnings for the six months ending Sept. 30 soared to 117.95 billion yen ($1.1 billion) from 53.36 billion in the same period a year ago.
Revenue grew 43 percent on year to 659.91 billion yen ($6.1 billion) from 461.62 billion yen a year earlier.
Although stock brokerage commissions dropped 22 percent due to the slump in the Japanese stock market, stock and bond underwriting commissions grew 12 percent.
