(Kenwood-AP) -- The Delaware County Excise Board is to meet today with the county's assessor on the possibility of quintupling property taxes in Kenwood.
The Kenwood school board voted last month to increase the taxes by five times in order to pay a 305-thousand dollar judgment to former school Superintendent Garland Lane.
Today's meeting between the Excise Board and Assessor Sharon Lane will be to discuss the deadline for issuing Kenwood's tax rolls. Sharon Lane is the wife of the former superintendent.
County Commissioner Dave Kendrick says the Excise Board has asked for Attorney General's office if funds from the Impact Aid to Indian Children can be used to pay the debt.
State Auditor Clifton Scott says he has been in contact with the Attorney General's office and there is a consensus that the Impact Aid funds can be used.
