(Tulsa-AP) -- U.S. Senator John McCain will campaign next week in Oklahoma for Second District congressional candidate Andy Ewing.

McCain was unsuccessful in running for the Republican presidential nomination. But his strong showing in several areas of the country boosted his political standing.

Karl Ahlgren, Ewing's campaign manager, says the Arizona senator is scheduled to appear at three p.m. at Rogers State University in Claremore.

The event will be open to the public.

Ahlgren says McCain will speak on behalf of Ewing's campaign but will also address other issues.
