(Tulsa-AP) -- Investigators in the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office say it was a political consultant who mailed letters bearing the state seal and asking Tulsa area residents to upgrade their voter registrations.
Authorities declined to identify the consultant and say the investigation has determined that no crime was committed.
State Election Board Secretary Lance Ward wants a report from the Tulsa County District Attorney. He believes the letters were meant to represent Election Office letters and thinks that by itself is a crime.
District Attorney Tim Harris says he's requested the findings of the investigation and will determine if any additional steps should be taken.
Ward says the timing of the letters could confuse voters, or discourage people from voting.
The letters were sent out just before the voter registration deadline of October 13th.
