(Norman-AP) -- Oklahoma's Josh Heupel is now the leader in a poll of Heisman Trophy voters.

The Sooner quarterback received nine of ten possible first place votes in the weekly poll by Scripps-Howard for 49 points. Purdue quarterback Drew Brees received the other first place vote and finished second with 31 points.

Heupel had not received a single vote in the poll before the Texas game.

The poll is conducted by the Denver Rocky Mountain News and surveys two voters in each of five separate regions.
