(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Long-time civic leader and retailer Ray T.

Anthony has died.

He was 87.

Anthony for years ran the C.R. Anthony Company chain of clothing stores founded by his father in 1922. The chain -- which has since been sold -- at one time had more than 300 stores across the country.

He earned a Distinguished Flying Cross for his service during World War Two.

Anthony retired from the business in 1986 and turned his attention to civic duties.
