(Ames, Iowa-AP) -- Iowa State has three finalists for the athletic director's job.

They are David Martin of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater; Bruce Van De Velde (VELD) of the University of Oklahoma in Norman; and Paul Griffin of the University of South Florida in Tampa.

The candidates tentatively are scheduled to visit Iowa State next week. I-S-U is seeking to replace Gene Smith who left in August to become A-D at Arizona State.

Martin has been senior associate athletic director and chief operations office at Oklahoma State since 1999. Van De Velde has served as senior associate A-D at Oklahoma since last year. Griffin has been director of intercollegiate activities at South Florida since 1986.
