(Stroud-AP) -- The superintendent of Stroud Public Schools faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery after an incident at a high school football game.

Lonnie Dean Morrison is accused of pushing Larry Dean Harlow at the September 15th homecoming game after Harlow joked with Morrison about the Stroud coaching staff.

A police report says Morrison put his hands in the middle of Harlow's chest and pushed him. Harlow then stepped forward and was pushed again. Harlow then pushed Morrison and Harlow's son stepped between the two.

Police Officer J-W Wood witnessed the incident and says Morrison invited Harlow to take up the matter outside the gate.

Wood says he advised Morrison that would not be a good idea.

Morrison is due in court on October 23rd.
