You may think of Tulsa County Sheriff’s deputies as being stern and tough. So, what would they want with a bunch of cuddly teddy bears? They will hand them out to frightened children. Members of the Unity Center collected the bears, so sheriff's deputies would have a unique way to comfort upset children.
The Tulsa County Sheriff says nothing appeals to children more than a cuddly, loveable teddy bear. "We have a lot of instances where the child's been abused or there is a family crisis, where the adults are feuding,†said Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz. “It's way to interact and touch the child, so they will communicate with us a lot better."
The Unity Center's congregation says they held the bears during a church service to fill them with love before giving them to the deputies.
