CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) _ The New York Knicks' decision to return to their South Carolina training camp has drawn the ire of the NAACP.

The Charleston chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People denounced the NBA team for ignoring its boycott of South Carolina until the Conferederate flag is permanently removed from state capital grounds.

The Knicks supported the boycott last spring and only decided to return to their training camp at the College of Charleston once lawmakers voted to take down the flag flying over the state capital.

The NAACP continued its boycott because the flag remains on the state capital grounds, standing near a monument of a Confederate soldier just feet away from the capital building steps.

The Knicks, who have trained in Charleston for the past nine seasons, arrived Thursday evening and will remain until Monday.
