(Tulsa-AP) -- A Tulsa man has been sentenced to six years in prison for molesting and attempting to rape a neighborhood girl.

John Francis Johnson pleaded no contest to two counts of attempted rape and one count of lewd molestation involving a girl who is now 16 years old.

The 45-year-old Johnson had been charged eleven months ago with offenses that were alleged to have occurred on three occasions between 1996 and August 1998.

Prosecutors say the girl attends special education classes because she has a learning disability.
