(Norman-AP) -- The Norman Fire Department is removing its order for a University of Oklahoma fraternity to vacate its house.

The order was issued Tuesday after Norman's fire marshal found several fire code violations in the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house.

Chapter Adviser Dick Smalley says the fire marshal inspected the house yesterday and removed the order after the fraternity hired a fire watcher, a security guard trained in fire safety.

Smalley says the fire watcher will be in place until tomorrow when the sprinkler system will be installed.

Chief John Dutch says the fire watcher may leave when the sprinkler system is working and other requirements are met.

Dutch says the house didn't have its required smoke detectors or an operable fire alarm system.

Fraternity president Bryan Schones says the house has made 600-thousand dollars worth of improvements to the house and that changes are being made to satisfy fire safety concerns.
