MONTICELLO, Ark. (AP) _ Backup quarterback Kevin McCarn completed 9-of-11 passes _ five of them for touchdowns _ as Arkansas-Monticello overwhelmed Panhandle State 80-0 Saturday afternoon.
Panhandle (1-3) managed only 91 yards total offense against the Boll Weevils (3-0). The Aggies from Oklahoma allowed UAM to rack up 662 yards offense, evenly divided _ 330 yards on the ground, 332 in the air.
The win was the largest in UAM's history.
In addition to 11 touchdowns, the Boll Weevils got a safety, and Sean MacMillan kicked a school-record 59-yard field goal in the third quarter.
Starting quarterback John Paul McMurry was at the helm for UAM for the game's opening, and threw the first scoring pass to Greg Lawson on a 12- yard play less than 4 minutes into the game.
McCarn then took over. He threw scoring passes of 12, 72 and 5 yards to Corey Rider, connected with Jim Chapman on a 2-yard pass play, and passed to Derrick Armstrong for a TD on a play that went 25 yards.
Late in the game, Kasey Nonette was put in as the signal caller, and he also connected with Armstrong on an 89-yard scoring play. Nonette also ran for one touchdown, from 4 yards out.
Other rushing touchdowns were scored by Gabriel Reed, from 4 yards out; Anthony Brown, 47 yards; and Gio Royal, 10 yards.
