(Oakville, Ontario-AP) -- Yet another golfer with Oklahoma ties has challenged Tiger Woods.

Former University of Oklahoma player Grant Waite lost by one stroke at the Canadian Open yesterday.

Woods becomes only the second player to win golf's Triple Crown.

Only Lee Trevino in 1971 won the U-S Open, the British Open and the Canadian Open in the same year.

Woods has won five tournaments this summer, three of them majors and one of them giving him the career Grand Slam. Woods has won nine tournaments this year. That's the most P-G-A victories since Sam Snead won eleven times in 1950.

Waite says he tried not to quote "get too caught up in the hype" and tried to give Woods a run for his money. He says the only way to beat Woods is to outplay him, which Waite says is a difficult thing to do.
