Lawrence returns to Oilers

(Tulsa-AP) -- Tulsa Oilers all-time points leader Doug Lawrence will be back for his eighth season.

But he won't play in the Oilers' season opener against Oklahoma City October 14th.

Lawrence was assessed a seven-game suspension by the Central Hockey League for his roll in a brawl late in the team's final playoff game at Indianapolis April 12th.

He will be out of the line up until October 31st.

Lawrence says he doesn't believe the brawl was as bad as it seemed. He says he's surprised and upset by the penalty.

The 31-year-old Lawrence was fourth in the league with 100 points on 29 goals and 71 assists last season.
