It took about two minutes for the Skiatook school board to accept the resignation of a second school coach Wednesday night.
David Douthit follows his ex-roommate Harry RedEagle, Jr. as coaches who have resigned in the wake of a hidden camera scandal at the Skiatook Middle School.
Douthit coached softball and soccer and taught social sciences for the district. He had been with the district for two years and lived with RedEagle, the man whose face is shown on tape putting a camera in a girl’s locker room, last fall. Douthit was recently interviewed by police as a witness about that and other tapes allegedly made by RedEagle.
Red Eagle resigned last week after The News on Six turned the tape over to police.
The handful of parents who attended the meeting were frustrated nothing was said about the case. "They didn't see us, I guess,†said mother Stephanie Gruenwald. “Eventually, they're going to hear us."
By law, the school board can only officially discuss things on the meeting agenda. But, some parents believe that at least the superintendent should say something to address parents' concerns. "He hasn't done anything positive,†said mother Laura Vandewiele about Superintendent Harry RedEagle, Sr., RedEagle Jr.’s father. “He's been in hiding and he should be a superintendent, first and foremost."
Neither RedEagle attended the special school board meeting.
